ART by J.C.F. is my creative practice — a space where reflection, storytelling, and imagination become another way of exploring what it means to be human.
While my research seeks understanding through scholarship, my artwork invites understanding through visual experience. Working across portraiture, abstract expression, mixed media, and apparel, I explore themes of identity, memory, healing, and belonging.
Many of my pieces begin with the same questions that guide my research: How do our experiences shape who we become? What stories do we inherit about ourselves? How can creativity help us imagine new possibilities?
Rather than offering answers, my work invites reflection. I believe art has the unique ability to communicate what words alone often cannot. It creates space for people to slow down, notice, feel, question, and reconnect — with themselves, with others, and with the world around them.
My creative practice is not separate from my scholarship. It is another way of asking questions. Another way of learning. Another way of teaching. Another way of building understanding.
