Research

Studying the questions that matter far beyond academic settings.

Research is how I seek to better understand the questions that have shaped my personal and professional journey. My work draws from Educational Psychology while remaining deeply connected to questions that matter far beyond academic settings. I study how beliefs are formed, how identity develops, how people make meaning of their experiences, and how education and communication influence the ways individuals learn, lead, relate to one another, and contribute to their communities.

While my current doctoral study focuses on HBCU and PBI communities in the U.S., this work reflects a broader, lifelong commitment to globally empowering people of African descent — across the continent and throughout the diaspora.

Current Doctoral Research

Behind the Veil: Beliefs, Racial Identity, and Intragroup Dialogue at HBCUs and PBIs

My current doctoral research examines how beliefs, racial identity, and socialization experiences influence willingness to engage in dialogue among students of African descent attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs). This work seeks to better understand how diversity within communities of African descent shapes communication, belonging, and opportunities for collective progress.
